The Republican Party has a history filled with larger-than-life personalities, beginning with Abraham Lincoln. His election in 1860 was instrumental in forming what became the modern Republican Party.
Lincoln, like most of
today’s Republican representatives, was committed to the principles of a
representative form of government that only interfered with the lives of
those it governed to a minimal degree. He recognized that individual
freedom was a blessing that should belong to all citizens of the world.
He demonstrated the courage to place his political career on the line
for this belief by declaring that no man should live in bondage to
another.
It is a credit to Lincoln’s
great faith and his vision for a Nation united in freedom that the
Republican Party has carried his principles forward to the present. In
honor of the vision of its founder and those who succeeded him, the
Parker County Republican Party formally established the Lincoln Council.
Membership in the Lincoln Council is offered to Republicans who are
willing to make a substantial contribution to the Parker County
Republican Party. The Lincoln Council honors not only the first Republican President of the United States, but all those who share his vision for a better America with conservative government at all levels. The Parker County Republican Party is proud to recognize the members of this important society for their unselfish commitment to support its platform, ideals and volunteers. |
